Favorite Foto Friday #11 Day 2 in Pana

My sweet little girls... I just love them!

After another breakfast at the hotels restaurant we headed off to Sharon's house. She was feeling much better. She looks taller in the photos and now I know why... hardly any of the women there reach 5 foot tall. So, even I at 5'4" look like a giant. She is very kind and has sacrificed her home and all of her time, 24/7 to many people.
She has a huge house and a building off the side for a clinic/office on the lower level and a storage room above.

While we were there they were also in the process of putting in a dog run for Sharon's dogs.

Her landscape was very pretty. She has a small stream flowing across part of her yard.

When we got there they were having class for the children that did not pass the last year of school. They were all working very hard on their studies.

When we went back inside there were people running around everywhere. There were about 4 women working just in the kitchen.

Soon I had my first sponsored child, visitor, Doris and her family. Doris is now being sponsored by a friend of mine's daughter. She had given me some magazines and things to give to her. They were all so sweet and very shy.

We started wrapping presents then Vanessa had to go back to the hotel to wait for her luggage. While she was gone we went to visit Christy's Sponsored kids home. Christy is sponsoring Olga's son. Olga is most remarkable. She is in school, works for Mayan Families and the orphanage on the weekends. She is a single mother and the sweetest lady. This is what I saw on the walk there ...
This poor little dog was in some desperate need of a vet! There were so many dogs on the streets of Panajachel that were nothing but skin and bones. ALL of our leftovers went to me to give to the dogs in the street.

This little child was sitting all alone on a walkway. No one was around to be seen watching over this little one. He just stared as we walked past.

Christy and Olga's visit. Christy brought many nice things for Olga's son. He was so embarrassed to see the underwear and quickly tucked them back in the backpack. He was so cute. Rhonda, a MFC friend sponsors Olga's daughter. She got so many pretty things and most everything was Pink. She was so happy and loved her new pink backpack.

After a nice visit with Olga and her family we headed back to Sharon's house. Vanessa was anxiously waiting to hear all about the visit with Olga and her children. We were so happy to hear Vanessa did get her luggage.
We headed out once more this time to meet my sponsored girls, Laisa, Yesmi and someday I will sponsor precious little Analady. I had planned to purchase the girls new shoes but Sharon said they would really like new traditional clothing. I agreed so we planned to bring them back to Sharon's to get all three girls fitted for their traditional clothing. When we arrived the children directed us too a different home. Sharon said it is because they are ashamed of their home. I fell in love with the girls instantly. Estela, their mother was working but came home while I visited. The girls were so very appreciative of the gifts and clothing I brought for them. Yesmi was so excited! Sharon said Yesmi was telling her mother that Now, she has new clothing for Christmas. Sharon said that it is important to them to have new clothing to wear on Christmas day.

When we all got back to Sharon's we had to take off again... This time to get the Casa Hogar Feliz children their shoes that Vanessa and her sponsors bought the children. I hated leaving the girls. They were having so much fun at Sharon's playing on Aleeya's swing set.

The CHF children were all so sweet and that little Obed is a hugger! It was a whirlwind of a visit with them while they picked out their shoes. I was anxious to see them again the next day!

Cute little Obed!

The children after they got their shoes.

The children leaving after they received their shoes.
Back to Sharon's one last time (for the day). When I got back Estela and her girls were still there. They wanted to show me their traditional clothing. They were so happy and many hugs came freely from the girls. Estela said she would be back in the morning to give me a small gift from her and her children.

It was such a whirlwind of a day. It left my heart full of pure joy!

Wow, breath-taking photos. I would love to talk with you about your mission trip. I would love to go on a mission trip to Guatemala sometime next year.
Why was the little boy all alone?

Marlene,

Once you have your album together, let me know. The pictures are amazing. It must have been an overwhelming experience. I am so glad you were able to bring Christmas to these beautiful children.
